Brett

From an early age, sport and competition was a large part of my life, from Swimming and Rowing and running marathons. In 2012 I started training to compete in triathlons and over these last 6 years have qualified a number of times to represent my country at World and European Triathlon Championships. I understand the importance of having flexibility, stability and strength to be able to attain your goals so when it came to making the decision on what career to pursue, the answer was easy, Physiotherapy.

I completed a BSc (hons) degree in Anatomy and Biomechanics in 1996 and then completed a BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy and qualified as a Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist in 1999. These have enabled me to treat a wide variety of Musculo-skeletal disorders following best clinical practice whilst at the same time specialising in lower limb biomechanics combined with diagnostic Gait Analysis. The analysis of how a person moves combined with the biomechanical knowledge of how they should move, is an extremely powerful tool in the diagnosis and subsequent prevention or treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. The idea that prevention is better than cure will always hold true.

I have been working in private healthcare for the last 19 years and over these last 7 years my focus has been developing physiotherapy services and links with the local orthopaedic consultants and general practitioners in Lancashire and Cumbria.

My Motto – “Competition is everything!”
